Potty Training: Pee Notes
On an average toddlers land up peeing anywhere between 3 -11 times the day. Some kids would want to go pee frequently while others would hold their pee and let it out in larger quantities. Sometimes your child might land up holding their pee and peeing while they are sleeping, don't get upset cause they missed an opportunity to associate the feeling to the action of using the potty.
Through the entire process make sure you are prompting your child to use the potty every 30 mins or so, that will remind your child to become aware of their body and what it needs. Ask them questions or prompt them that they would need to use the potty. Know that your child is just learning how to understand their body's cues just like you are trying to understand their cues to want to use the potty.
Avoid hovering over your child or over prompting them to use the potty, this will make them feel pressurized and anxious.
After they start getting the hang of pooping in the potty, you can teach them to dump their poop from their potty into the adult toilet and flush it. This will make them proud and confident that they were able to navigate the whole process by themselves. Also don't be surprised if your child isn't able to poop in the potty for the first 2 days, they are trying to adjust their bodies to understand the feeling of peeing and pooping to actually going ahead and doing the act in the potty.
