Potty Training : Nap and Night time
These two periods are a little different from normal day time. Prompt your child to use the potty to pee or poop before they take a nap or before their bedtime, this will help you start building a potty routine for your child. You can start using these prompts before and after naps or bedtime, and also before you head out of the house. During their nap and night time you will start putting your child in pull-ups that look completely different from diapers. Talk to your child and inform them that the pull ups are sleep undies and they would only wear them when they are sleeping, also ensure that you remove the pull ups once your child wakes up. The reason you would need to make your child wear a pull up is because their bodies aren't strong enough to be able to hold pee for long durations, once they have the strength and get into the habit of waking up if they have to use the potty you can stop making them wear pull ups.Avoid putting any pressure on your child to stay dry when they are sleeping, it's not a realistic goal.
Post your day one of potty training is done asses how your day went by, what all was your toddler able to understand from the day, did they start associating the feeling of peeing or pooping with taking the action to use the potty even though you had to prompt them to make them realize they had to use the potty. If so you can start day two of potty training. Please note you might have to land up prompting your child for up to 6 months to go and use the potty when you see signs of them needing to use the potty.
