Let’s get you started with Potty training
First Poops First
Potty training is a big milestone that you would have to learn how to navigate and help your little toddler to become an independent toddler. If you are confused, overwhelmed or finding it difficult to figure out what is the best way to get started with potty training we have got you covered with some quick and easy ways to do it right. This piece will help you confidently take your kids from diapers to potty training. We want you to be prepared for the before, during and after you are done potty training your baby. Let’s help you take control of this shitty situation.
Teaching your child how to use the Potty is just like teaching them anything else, say like teaching them how to count 1,2,3. Teaching your toddler anything is ideally a slow process, you have to be patient with them and be mindful that they will take time to learn the new skill you are trying to teach them and they will make mistakes along the way. As a parent try making potty training a fun process for your child just like you would with teaching them how to count numbers. Always remember to repeat the learning process over and over again, encourage your child to learn this new skill and give them every opportunity to succeed while being mindful of not getting stressed when they are making mistakes. Here are some thing as a parent you should be mindful of when teaching your child how to understand the feeling of peeing to actually taking the action to go ahead and use the potty to pee:
What does it feel like to pee?
How to hold their pee till they get to the potty to use it.
What piece of clothing do they need to remove to use the potty?
How to remove the piece of clothing?
How to sit on the potty.
How should they let the pee or poop out?
As with any skill that you would teach your child, follow the principles of TEACH, PRACTICE & REPEAT. Initially your child will make a Mee-stake but that’s fine just make sure you practice more and repeat the practice as often as possible. Keep in mind the end goal which is getting your child to stop wearing a diaper and start using the potty to pee or poop. Through the process of learning we want to help your child learn a new skill while having less meltdowns and push backs in case they are unable to learn the new skill quickly.
